Using Targeted Social Media / Facebook Ads to Offer Conversational English

One of the groups that we have found that is most receptive to Facebook / Instagram Advertising for churches is those looking to practice conversational English. We, of course, offer this through the English Learning version of the Story of Redemption Film Series. Some of the groups that are most receptive to this are:
  1. Immigrants and non-native English speakers: People who have recently moved to an English-speaking country or those whose first language is not English may be interested in improving their language skills and could benefit from the conversational English lessons.
  2. Students: Young adults, college students, and high school students looking to improve their English proficiency may be attracted to the offer, especially if they need additional resources for academic success or plan to study abroad.
  3. Travel enthusiasts and global citizens: People interested in traveling, experiencing different cultures, or expanding their global perspective might find the Story of Redemption Films and English lessons appealing.
  4. Spiritual seekers and religious groups: Individuals exploring their spirituality or seeking to deepen their understanding of different religious perspectives may be drawn to the films' content and the opportunity to learn through a faith-based context.
  5. Language learners: Those who enjoy learning new languages or enhancing their language skills for personal or professional development may be interested in the conversational English lessons.
  6. Community-focused individuals: People who value community engagement, social connections, and volunteering may be receptive to the idea of learning English through a church-sponsored program.
To target these groups effectively, a social media ad campaign can use various strategies such as demographic targeting, interest-based targeting, and location-based targeting. By creating tailored ads that appeal to the needs and interests of these groups, a church can maximize the chances of reaching and engaging those most likely to respond to the offer.

Creating a Facebook Audience / Target Group for FREE Conversational English Using the Story of Redemption

To reach receptive groups in your church's area using Facebook targeted advertising, follow these steps:
  1. Set up a Facebook Ads account: If you haven't already, create a Facebook Ads account by signing up at https://www.facebook.com/business. You'll need a Facebook Page for the church to advertise on Facebook.
  2. Create a new campaign: Go to Facebook Ads Manager (https://www.facebook.com/adsmanager) and click on the green "Create" button to start a new campaign. Choose an objective for your campaign, such as "Traffic" (to drive people to your registration page) or "Engagement" (to increase post engagement).
  3. Name your campaign, ad set, and ad: Give your campaign, ad set, and ad distinct names that reflect the purpose of the campaign (e.g., "Falls Church English Lessons").
  4. Choose your audience: In the "Audience" section of the ad set, define the target audience for your ad. To reach receptive groups in your area, consider the following targeting options:
    a. Location targeting: Target people who live in or around your church. You can do this by entering "Your City, Your State" in the location field and selecting a radius around the city (e.g., 10 miles).
    b. Age and gender targeting: Adjust the age range and gender, if necessary, to better suit the demographics of the receptive groups.
    c. Language targeting: Target users who speak languages common in Falls Church, such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese).
    d. Interest targeting: Reach people with specific interests related to language learning, travel, spirituality, or religion. For example, you can target interests like "English as a second or foreign language," "Language exchange," "Travel," "Spirituality," or "Religion."
    e. Behavior targeting: You can also target people based on their behaviors, such as those who have recently moved to the area (under "Behaviors" > "Residential profiles" > "New mover").
  5. Set your budget and schedule: Determine your daily or lifetime budget for the campaign and select the start and end dates for your ad.
  6. Create your ad: Design an eye-catching ad using the text and image (or video) you've created for the Facebook post. Ensure the ad has a clear call-to-action, such as "Sign up now" or "Learn more," and link to the appropriate registration page or website.
  7. Review and launch: Review your ad settings to ensure everything is accurate, and then click "Submit" to launch your campaign. Monitor your ad's performance regularly and make adjustments as needed to optimize its reach and effectiveness.
By following these steps, you'll be able to create a targeted Facebook ad campaign to reach receptive groups in your area for your conversational English lessons.
