Encouragement—This gift equips one to “lift the spirits” of a person, positively affirm someone’s ability, or strongly urge someone to take some action for God. An example of someone leading through encouragement would be seeing potential in someone and calling on him or her to use this potential (Acts 11:23).

- Small Group Leadership: Facilitating Bible study or fellowship groups, encouraging members to grow in their faith and to live out Christian principles in their daily lives.
- Mentorship and Discipleship: Mentoring newer believers or less mature Christians, encouraging them in their spiritual growth and personal development.
- Visitation Ministry: Visiting the sick, elderly, or homebound members of the congregation to offer comfort and encouragement.
- Prayer Ministry: Being part of a prayer team that prays for the needs of the congregation and community, offering encouraging words and affirmations of God’s love and care.
- Teaching and Preaching: Using the platform of teaching or preaching to encourage the congregation in their walk with Christ, highlighting the potential in every believer.
