Prayer—This gift equips one to pray for an extended period or on a regular basis for individuals and specific ministries. An example of leading through prayer would be praying throughout the day for someone (Eph. 6:18).
Those with the gift of prayer have an essential role in the spiritual life of the church. They are often the ones who intercede for the church, its members, and its ministries with dedication and fervor. Here are some ways they can serve:

- Prayer Ministry / Team Member: Join or establish a prayer team dedicated to praying for various needs within the church and its community; be a team member that prays for most any ministry as a primary role
- Prayer Chain Coordinator: Organize a prayer chain, ensuring urgent prayer requests are quickly shared and prayed for by the community.
- Intercessory Prayer Group Leader: Lead a group specifically focused on intercessory prayer, meeting regularly to pray for individuals, the church, and global issues.
- Prayer Room Steward: Maintain a prayer room or chapel in the church where people can come to pray; be available to pray with and for them.
- Prayer Ministry Training: Provide training for others in the church on how to pray effectively, covering different aspects of prayer life.
- Prayer Cause Organizer: Coordinate prayer vigils for specific events, causes, or during times of church-wide fasting and seeking God.
- Prayer Retreats: Plan and host prayer retreats aimed at deepening the prayer lives of participants.
- Prayer for Church Services: Be responsible for covering all church services in prayer, praying for the worship, the preaching of the Word, and the congregation's response.
- Prayer for Leaders: Regularly pray for the church leaders, for their wisdom, protection, and spiritual guidance.
- Outreach Prayer Support: Pray for outreach ministries and missions, both for the workers and those they are reaching out to.
- Emergency Prayer Response: Be available on call for emergencies that require immediate prayer support.
- Healing Prayer Ministry: Be involved in or lead a healing prayer ministry, offering prayer for the sick and the suffering.
- Prayer Counseling: Offer prayer counseling to individuals who come with personal needs and requests.
- Missionary Prayer Support: Keep track of missionaries supported by the church and ensure they are regularly lifted up in prayer.
- Prayer Guides: Create prayer guides for the congregation that align with the teaching series or seasons of the church calendar.
- Online Prayer Ministry: Develop an online prayer ministry, enabling people to submit requests and receive prayer from a dedicated team.
- Prayer Walking: Organize prayer walks in the community, praying over various areas and their needs.
- Prayer Newsletter: Produce a prayer newsletter to inform the congregation of prayer needs and answers to prayer.
- Follow-up Prayer: After church services, be available to pray with individuals who respond to the call or invitation.
