Dear Church Leaders, Members, and Students,
All of us have been impacted by the global crisis that has swept across the world. Work, recreation, parenting, friendships--they all have changed.
Numerous families, individuals, and churches are in crisis from the coronavirus epidemic, facing sickness, job loss, grief, and loss of loved ones. These are tremendous challenges. But our current crisis is also accelerating the crisis that has been ongoing in the church for some time, a generational shift from analog to digital, from churched to unchurched, from print to video and social media, changing how we think, act, and communicate.
We are now all "Zooming in"--separated physically, but connected virtually. Families are homeschooling. Church services are online. People are working from home. For some, spending more time with family is a blessing. For others, it is a challenge, filled with stress and loneliness.
How can we "be the church" in this time of crisis, change, and social distancing? What changes are good or necessary, and what changes should we push back against in this new space? And how do we lead and help the church still fulfill its mission in this time?
There are many challenges, but also many opportunities. We can engage the gifts and talents of a younger generation. Reach out globally through technology in a way that we never have before. People are checking out online messages, sermons, and having spiritual conversations in tremendous numbers. How do we not just survive, but in many ways, thrive, with God's help, in this new space?
This seminar sessions seek to address these crucial questions. Hope that you will be blessed by them.
