Teaching — Those gifted in teaching are able to deepen people’s understanding of God’s truths through instruction of Scripture and life sharing, enabling people to be shaped into the image of Christ. Teaching is primarily interactive communication, whereas speaking is more one way. An example of leading through teaching is helping a group of Christians to better understand a passage of Scripture (Acts 20:7-11). While it is possible that “teacher” was an office (e.g., Acts 13:1; Jam. 3:1; 1 Tim. 2:7), this study defines the gift of teaching in terms of function.
Individuals with the gift of teaching have numerous opportunities to serve within church ministries. Their ability to explain Scripture and facilitate transformation through interactive communication is vital to the growth and edification of the congregation. Here are some ways they can serve:

- Evangelistic Bible Study Leader - Conduct small group Bible studies, encouraging discussion, questions, and personal application of Scripture.
- Sunday School . Small Groups Teacher: Lead classes or small groups, sharing biblical truths in an interactive and age-appropriate manner.
- Discipleship/Mentorship Programs: Guide newer Christians in their faith journey, providing systematic teaching on core Christian doctrines and living.
- New Believers' Classes: Teach foundational courses for new members or converts, explaining the basics of the faith and church life.
- Theological Education: Provide deeper theological training for those interested, possibly in a more formal setting like a Bible institute or church-based seminary.
- Youth Ministry: Engage with teenagers, addressing their unique challenges and questions through interactive Bible teaching.
- Children’s Ministry: Develop engaging teaching methods to convey biblical narratives and principles to children.
- Workshops/Seminars: Lead special sessions on topics like marriage, parenting, finances, or spiritual disciplines based on biblical principles.
- Curriculum Development: Help develop teaching material and resources for church education programs.
